Learning Objectives:

1.       Examine the historical context that has influenced the understanding of women’s neuropsychological functioning.

2.       Identify how gender impacts the presentation and progression of specific neuropsychological conditions in women.

3.       Apply relevant questions and factors to incorporate into clinical interviews, patient conceptualization, and recommendations for women patients.

4.       Evaluate future research directions addressing knowledge gaps related to gender differences in cognitive health.

Instructor’s credentials:  Dr. Erin Sullivan-Baca, Ph.D., ABPP, is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist in Texas. She serves as the Clinical Neuropsychologist and Dallas Clinic Director at Neurocognitive Specialty Group and has held leadership roles in neuropsychology services. She is actively involved in research at Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, with multiple peer-reviewed publications on epilepsy, psychiatric comorbidities, and gender disparities in neuropsychology. Her recent work includes studies on the representation of women in neuropsychology research (The Clinical Neuropsychologist, 2024) and comorbidities in Hispanic/Latino veterans with epilepsy (Epilepsy & Behavior, 2024). Additionally, she is a part-time instructor and adjunct professor, has presented at national conferences, and co-authored book chapters on neuropsychology.
